Hi! I’m Andrea. It’s nice to meet you!
I have a passion for helping people heal and connect with themselves, as I support them to find their way back to the truest version that existed before all the stuff of life got in the way. When we uncover our sacred roots in this way, and deeply heal, nearly anything is possible!
I counsel individuals who are living with depression, anxiety, stress, caregiver burnout, the impacts of trauma, including intergenerational trauma, addiction, grief, mental health struggles, and more. I use EMDR, OEI, polyvagal techniques, inner child work, compassion-focused therapy, CBT, DBT, and a wide variety of therapeutic tools.
One of my firmly held beliefs as a counsellor is “Shame dies when stories are told in safe spaces” (Ann Voskamp). As a complex trauma survivor, I have personal experience in understanding that healing is often messy work and that it can be like a roller coaster. Using this insider knowledge, I collaborate with my clients and help them navigate the unique twists and turns in own their healing journey. My clients often comment that I “don’t shock easily” as they come to me for support.
I hold a Diploma of Professional Counselling, an Addiction Worker Certificate, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I’m a lifelong learner, and my endless curiosity about human behaviour means I’m nearly always completing some kind of schooling or training to add to my existing tool kit. All that to say, I am a bit of a nerd!
I am a Qualified Clinical Supervisor with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (MPCC-S, Member #3231). I am also a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (Member #16907) and a Registered Social Worker (Member #15034) with the BC College of Social Workers.
I would describe myself as a compassionate, warm, and dynamic person. Born and raised in the Kootenays, I’m now enjoying the small-town vibe of Kamloops BC and its easy accessibility to nature. In my free time, I can be found spending time with my partner and daughter, camping, skiing, hiking, going to concerts, listening to records, reading, or spending time near the water.
I would be honoured to be a part of your healing journey. Please reach out for a 15-minute consultation to learn more.
